A 12-month fixed term position has arisen for a Procurement Specialist to cover maternity leave, reporting to the Head of Procurement to work within the central Procurement team located at the Company’s Head Office, Queen’s Square, Middlesbrough. The main objective of the role is to support the Head of Procurement in providing a comprehensive procurement service to achieve maximum value and to best procurement practice in support of the company’s business objectives and in compliance with the company’s Procurement policy.
Location: Queen’s Square, Middlesbrough
Working Arrangements: Hybrid working – Monday – Friday, 35 hours per week
The main things our Procurement Specialist will be working on are:
• Lead and execute sourcing projects aimed at reducing cost, minimising risk and optimising business processes for operating goods, services and capital equipment.
• Develop and implement sourcing plans/strategies for commodities as assigned, considering situation analysis, company objectives, key industry market and economic trends.
• Ensure that all procurement activity and tender requirements are in accordance with the company’s Procurement policy and comply with all prevailing legislation.
• Negotiate contracts with suppliers, ensuring favourable contractual terms and conditions and specifications, deliverables and performance metrics are clear and can be easily quantified.
• Work with the legal function to construct the necessary contractual arrangements to ensure all contractual terms and conditions are approved and corporate risk is minimised.
• Provision of specialist procurement support and advice to employees regularly involved in procurement activities.
• Support the development and ongoing operation of the procurement systems to leverage efficiencies.
We are seeking someone who is:
• Experienced in delivering sourcing projects, driving cost savings, and negotiating improved commercial terms and conditions.
• A self-starter with excellent commercial acumen, ability to work cross-functionally and the ability to drive change across all levels of the company.
• The ability to work under pressure in managing multiple work activities simultaneously to set deadlines in a heavy workload environment is essential.
• Strong IT and numerical skills and experience with the ability to use software and systems to gather analyse and manage data.
• Working knowledge of negotiating terms and conditions and construction of supplier contracts.
• IT sourcing experience is beneficial but not essential.
• Good written and oral communication skills
• MCIPS qualified or part qualified
