We celebrated the completion of 9 engineering apprenticeships in both mechanical and electrical engineering. The celebration marked a culmination of hardwork, determination and growth as the apprentices took their next steps forward as skilled tradesmen ready to make their mark in their respective fields.
These apprentices were gathered in the board room at our headquarters in Queens Square where both Leigh Watson, Engineering Manager and Frans Calje, Chief executive officer both shared proud words of encouragement and wisdom before presenting them with their certificates of achievement.
Completing an apprenticeship is no small achievement. Over the past few years these apprentices have balanced learning and working, stepping outside their comfort zones to take on new challenges. They have learned a new trade, developed invaluable skills and grown into confident and capable individuals.
This achievement is not just about their technical skills but also HSE and compliance knowledge, professional skills such as time management, following project schedules, communication and teamwork. Skills which will adapt and be added to as they progress in their careers.
Andy Eaton, PD Ports Group Engineering Director said “I take immense pride in our Port Maintenance Engineering Apprenticeship Programme and the talented individuals who have now successfully completed their 4-year journey.
Their dedication, hard work, and commitment have been truly inspiring, and it’s fantastic to see them transition from apprentices to fully qualified tradespeople within our team at PD Ports. Their achievement not only strengthens our workforce but also reinforces our commitment to developing skilled professionals for the future. Congratulations to each of the and I look forward to seeing their careers flourish within our organisation.”
For these apprentices this is just the beginning. The skills and experience they have gained form the foundation of their careers full of opportunities and achievements. We hope that they will always strive for excellence, continue to learn and never stop moving forward!
At PD Ports we’re looking to the future, gearing up to take on apprentices this September starting with our engineering department.
We want to encourage young people to consider a career in the Port Industry. We offer a diverse range of careers that goes beyond what you would expect and we’re here to open the minds of young people and show them what’s available to them.
