PD Portcentric Logistics, part of the PD Ports Group, has secured a three year contract with freight forwarding company, Allport Cargo Services, to undertake their LCL deconsolidation service.
Allport will move their growing LCL offering from Tilbury to PD Portcentric Logistics’ 500,000 sq. ft. warehousing facility at the Port of Felixstowe. This move will allow Allport to reassign their Tilbury facility to other operations whilst further enhancing their growing LCL service.
In order to facilitate this PD Portcentric Logistics have invested and upgraded functionality in their Dispatcher Warehouse Management System to facilitate direct links with Allport, HMRC and Port Community Systems, and have created a robust dynamic platform for External Temporary Storage Facility (ETSF) cargoes.
Russell Lawrence, Allport’s Sea Freight Operations Director, commented: “Working closely with such a large and proven supplier like PD Portcentric Logistics is a great opportunity for us to improve the efficiency of and expand an important area of our business. The consolidation service will benefit greatly by operating out of this strategically selected location meanwhile, the move provides us with the chance to enhance our Tilbury site and provide greater strength to our retail and ecommerce offering.”
Frans Calje, PD Ports Group Managing Director – Unitised and Portcentric Logistics, commented: “It is great to see yet another business take advantage of our portcentric logistics solutions. We pride ourselves on providing a great service which will see benefits for the customers supply chain. Having Allport choose to use PD Portcentric Logistics in Felixstowe further highlights our experience and competence in the sector.”
