We’re delighted that seven members of our team have been shortlisted for the Multimodal 30 Under 30 list. The prestigious list features young people in the industry who are paving the way for the future and were nominated for their outstanding work and passion for the logistics sector.
To celebrate this fantastic achievement, we caught up with each of our nominees to find out more about them and their role within PD Ports…
You may recognise our next nominee, Emily Clark, whose story has inspired many students to undertake apprenticeships within our industry.
Emily got her first taste of PD Ports while taking part in the Tees Valley Logistics Academy’s Career Ready Programme at college. Under mentorship from our former Director, Jim French, Emily’s passion and potential shone through, leading to the offer of a four-week internship within our engineering department.
Her drive and determination are evident to this day, and Emily is now working towards a higher degree apprenticeship, splitting her time between PD Ports and Teesside University as she studies to become a chartered Civil Engineer.
Emily thrives within her role, and the business, which has led to her becoming a leading example for young women considering careers in STEM.
Discussing her nomination in the 30 Under 30 list, Emily said: “I’m really grateful that I’ve been nominated for the award. It means a lot to me that I would be thought of in the same way as a group of such amazing and inspiring young people.”
Quickfire Q&A:
Q: What’s your favourite way to relax?
A: I love taking my dog to new places, climbing hills near us, it keeps me fit and she loves to explore anything and everything. But I also love to sit and paint, art is one of my passions and I find it so relaxing to just sit and paint for an afternoon.
Q: What’s your favourite food?
A: Definitely chocolate, I have no self-control when it comes to chocolate.
Q: Where is your favourite place to visit?
A: There’s a spot in the hills where we walk our dog that I love because the sun comes down over right between the hills, it’s really peaceful and always makes me feel better. Either that or Lake Windermere in the Lake District.
Q: Do you have any pets?
A: Yes, a white German Shepherd who is just a big animated teddy bear
Q: How would your colleagues describe you?
A: They have said that they would describe me as bright and thoughtful.
Q: Do you have any hidden talents?
A: As I’ve said I love to paint and draw, but I also play the piano and horse ride.
Q: Describe yourself in three words
A: Ambitious, creative, motivated (if I was being nice!)
Q: Do you have any quirks?
A: That’s a difficult question to answer as obviously I think I’m pretty normal, but one thing that people tend to mention is that I dye my hair different colours all the time. I think I’ve set myself the challenge to make my way through the rainbow in hair colours.
