PD Portcentric Logistics will be underlining its expertise in portcentric logistics solutions for the retail sector, whilst sponsoring The Retail Week Supply Chain Summit. The company will be sponsoring the drinks reception at the event, which attracts the biggest names in retail and logistics.
The portcentric logistics approach, whereby imports are processed at or near their port of entry, has many benefits for businesses of all sizes. Retailers can realise these benefits through reduced supply chain costs, CO2 emissions and road miles whilst making onward distribution and returns easier.
PD Portcentric Logistics already provides portcentric logistics services for Asda, Tesco and Argos, amongst other well known names in retail. Business Development Director, Geoff Lippitt said: “Our customers are seeing the unique benefits of our operation, which can offer portcentric logistics capabilities at northern and southern locations – the only port operator to offer this. The fast paced world of retail is one area in particular, where portcentric logistics can secure significant commercial and environmental savings.”
The summit, held over two days from the 22 May, will be attended by major retailers and logistics providers and include a high-profile speaker programme. The 2013 summit will focus on several emerging areas, including the rapid growth of ecommerce, and the challenges and opportunities this presents in the supply chain.
