PD Ports Group has launched PD Portcentric Logistics at this year’s Multimodal logistics event. The new brand will highlight the group’s portcentric logistics capabilities and showcase the big name businesses already taking advantage of the offering.
Portcentric logistics is an alternative to the traditional approach, which typically sees goods transported to the logistics ‘golden triangle’ for onward distribution, by offering customers the choice to go straight from A to B. The approach can save time, money and considerably reduce environmental impact.
Geoff Lippitt, Business Development Director of PD Ports Group said: “Portcentric logistics has very real commercial and environmental benefits. Every year, in total, our customers save millions of pounds in supply chain costs, road miles and significantly reduce their carbon emissions.”
“We have a proven track record of delivering tangible results for businesses across a range of sectors, including clothes and food, adopting a portcentric solution.”
The portcentric logistics operation at Teesport has seen rapid growth in recent years, with major contracts including household names such as Asda, Tesco and Taylors of Harrogate. The brand launch includes the launch of the ‘project P’ campaign, which will champion the cause of portcentric logistics and help explain the benefits to business and the wider community, under the premise of ‘making logistics logical’.
The PD Portcentric Logistics brand is showcased for the first time at the 2013 Multimodal exhibition in Birmingham, the flagship event for transport, freight and logistics industries held between April 23rd and 25th.
