PD Ports has announced a new weekly multi modal logistics service into Teesport by new customer MacAndrews, part of the CMA-CGM Group, further strengthening the port operator’s position as the UK’s best connected feeder port.
This new weekly service, which commenced on Monday 14th October, will connect the North-east port with Iberia, Sweden and Poland. MacAndrews has upgraded its existing Scan-Baltic service to include Teesport as its preferred North-east coast gateway.
Frans Calje, PD Ports’ managing director unitised, said: “I am delighted to announce that we are MacAndrews port of choice on the North-east coast and have successfully welcomed the first of two 800 TEU (Twenty Foot Equivalent Unit) vessels, which will operate the service, into Teesport.
“The arrival of MacAndrews and this new weekly call into Teesport greatly enhances the network of services which we can offer to the region’s importers and exporters. We very much look forward to further developing this service as market demand strengthens.”
Geoff Smith, managing director of MacAndrews, added: “This is in line with MacAndrews business goals to continue to expand and offer dynamic services to the market, giving alternatives for greener logistics and cost competitive solutions for our customers. Calling at Teesport further enhances our existing Iberian, Scandinavian, Baltic and Russian network.”
In 2012 PD Ports delivered a major upgrade in Teesport’s operating systems following a £16.7M investment in its wider container terminal facilities.
