PD Ports has strengthened its position to enter the next phase of its investment plans with the announcement of two new appointments.
Former shipping agent Keith Russell and journalist Lucy Richardson have joined the major North-East employer based at its headquarters in Middlesbrough.
As Business Development Manager, Keith brings to the role a wealth of commercial experience and an in-depth knowledge of operations on the River Tees and their growth potential.
He worked at Graypen Shipping for almost 12 years, joining as a trainee agent and working his way up to general manager for the North-East.
He is now using his skills to meet the needs of existing customers as well as identifying new markets and opportunities.
He said: “We are looking at several areas where we can focus our growth. I have a good all round knowledge of how the Port works in real terms and I’m looking forward to helping the business develop further in future.”
Lucy has been appointed Marketing & Communications Executive to support the wider PR and Marketing team in expanding media coverage and help raise the profile of PD Ports within its key markets as well as amongst stakeholders and customers.
As a senior reporter for eight years at The Northern Echo, she covered news and business stories across Teesside and has strong digital media skills. She said: “I am looking forward to promoting the PD Ports brand which has a proud heritage and exciting vision for Teesside’s future.”
PD Ports owns and operates Teesport, one of the UK’s largest ports by volume, supporting over 3,000 jobs in the North-East and a key driver in the region’s economy. More than £80M has been invested in upgrading and enhancing the operating platform at the Port in the last five years.
